I love the work that I get to do. I love when I see my prints in someone’s home, when I get a wedding invitation or Christmas card or party invitation I designed in the mail, every time an Etsy order notification shows up on my phone, every time I see a senior portrait or a family photo displayed. The list goes on. The creative side of my job is a source of J•O•Y for me.
But then there are the spreadsheets and the bookkeeping and the taxes. The orders damaged during shipping. Every once in a while, an unhappy customer to deal with. The government forms and P&L sheets and all the business things. I don’t love any of that. I want to ignore it. Pretend like it’s not there. Except that I can’t. But I CAN surround myself with really smart business people to help me with it.
Having a side hustle has never been easy, but I believe that when you find something you love to do, you do the hard stuff.
