I've always loved words.
Growing up, I loved to read and write stories and take photos, but I never considered myself "creative." To me, being creative meant being able to draw or paint or sculpt—and believe me, I cannot do any of those things!. But as my high school newspaper editor, I learned basic PageMaker and Photoshop, and I began to love design as well as writing.
In college, I studied communications and creative writing. For my Master's degree, I took marketing and design classes. This was all before social media really existed (unless you count MySpace, but let's not!), or I'm sure I would have taken those courses too.
After college and newly-married, I took on the role of Communication Specialist (now Director of Marketing and Communications) at a large private school in Florida. I improved my photography skills, learned basic video production, started learning website design and coding, honed my graphic design skills, and sought more training in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. I implemented Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest at the school and learned how to use social media for marketing and advertising. I read articles and blog posts and industry publications on marketing and social media, advertising and SEO, blog basics and storytelling and so much more.
I started using my skills to help friends and family with invitations, flyers, home decor prints. I took family photos and sports photos. I created logos and edited newsletters.
I started SandraAlyce Creative Services in 2011 with the goal to help individuals and businesses with their graphic design, social media and marketing needs. My love for words has evolved into a love of marketing and design.
