Find Your Passion, Then Become Excellent

On March 17, 2015, while scrolling Instagram, I came across this quote by Dave Ramsey: “Identify your motivations and passions. Discover what you’re good at and become excellent at it.” In his caption, he wrote, “Sometimes the one person you need to believe in you IS you.” I took a screenshot and have kept it in my camera roll for the past five years as a reminder 1) to pursue my passions; 2) to believe in myself; and 3) that other people don’t have to get it.

I love layout and graphic design, photography, writing and editing. I love creating and managing social media. I love designing websites. I love helping small businesses with limited marketing budgets. I love taking a person’s concept and creating a logo or website or print that surpasses his or her expectations.

I also love learning and growing, so I’m always listening to podcasts and reading newsletters and taking part in online seminars that help me to keep honing my skills.

For a long time, I downplayed my side hustle; I did it quietly in the background. But over the past year or two, I’ve learned to have confidence in myself and what I do. I’ve made intentional steps to grow my business and to promote what I do. And I’m using this time of being quarantined at home to make plans, to design, to tackle some things that have been on my business To Do list for far too long.

I’m striving to become excellent. 🧡🖤🧡
